More About Each Birth Partner

Marilyn Alger (pictured on the left): I found my passion for birth work in 1993. I have worked as a doula and birth assistant attending over 700 births and joined BirthPartners Birth Assisting in 2013.  I am  also a certified Hypnobabies ChildbirthHypnosis® instructor, teaching since 2008. I am a board certified massage therapist specializing in prenatal massage. My husband Tony and I have been married since 1983 and have 4 children, 2 born in the hospital, 1 at a birth center, and 1 at home. I am an enthusiastic supporter of breastfeeding, all of my children were breastfed, and I love to help new babies learn how to nurse.  Outside of birth, my greatest joy is my faith and my family. I also love playing with my grandchildren, planning family events, gardening and sewing. I look forward to helping you along your birth journey!

Alana Potter (pictured on the right): I became active in the community birth world over 30 years ago and have a passion for helping families have the best start possible. I’m a Certified Professional Midwife, certified labor doula (CD)DONA, postpartum doula (Birth Arts Intl), newborn care specialist (NCTA)  and bereavement doula (Still Birthday) and also love my role as assistant at BirthCare!   Well-versed in Spinning Babies and alternative therapies, I include my experience in various modalities when serving my clients.

I myself have given birth eight times at home and am committed to the midwifery model of care.  I believe in informed choice and the incredible power of mothers and their bodies.  My promise to my clients is to do all within my ability to support their achieving the experience they desire. I am a very blessed wife, mom of 11 and Granny to 12 (so far) grandbabies.  My interests include regenerative agriculture, gardening, sewing, baking and Scottish country dancing!
