I married my Andrew in 2010 after being a single mama for eight years.  I’ve been blessed with peaceful birth center and home births—Aliya in 2002 (inspiring me to start attending births) and Macallah in 2011.  I trust mama and baby as a perfect team in pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding and believe that this is a sacred moment belonging to you, your partner and family.  I know birth to be an empowering experience, especially when mama is given time and a safe space to listen to her body and heart.  Some of my strengths are my communication skills and my calm, compassionate nature.  I use my knowledge of your needs and my intuition to know when to be more hands-on and when to provide you with privacy. It is an honor for me to attend your birth and to share in this precious time of your life, to help welcome your child into the world with love.

Educational Background and Certifications:  George Washington University BA, fine arts major; religion minor.  ToLabor- and ICTC-trained doula.  La Leche League Certified Breastfeeding Peer Counselor.  NARM Certified Professional Midwife.  BOLD Method for Birth Certified Facilitator.  CPR/NRP Certified.

Service Area: I live in Frederick, MD.  I am willing to travel to MD, DC and VA within 45 minutes of my home.

Back-ups:  I use various other BAs as back up, when needed, depending on your preference and their availability.

Fee (s):  My fee generally ranges from $900-$1000, depending on where you live and if you are having a home or birth center birth.  I like to get to know you through two prenatal home visits before attending your birth and one post-partum home visit.
