I have been working as a doula since 2007 and began birth assisting in 2010. I have worked since then in birth center and home settings, and came to Birth Care in the spring of 2015. I enjoy the combination of clinical tasks and labor support involved in birth assisting, and I strive to be a calming presence at each birth I attend. My style is to step up when I feel that a particular kind of labor support can help move a birth in a more positive direction and to blend into the background when I sense that privacy or a more intimate atmosphere is desired.
Outside my birth life I practice as an herbalist, grow medicinal herbs, and teach classes about herbalism, botany, and healthy eating. I am happy to consult with clients about herbs they are using or considering.
I am NRP and CPR certified and have trained in breastfeeding support, Spinning Babies, and childbirth education.
Service area: I live in Northwest DC and prefer to serve clients within the beltway. I am open to clients in other areas on a case-by-case basis, so please ask if you would like to work with me.
Fee: $900 for home births, $950 for birth center. $50 discount if paid in full by 36 weeks. Discounted fees available for low-income families who qualify for Medicaid/SNAP/TANF.
